My grandson name is Malachai ( threw in the a to aid in prounounciation)..My son picked out this name when he was in the seventh grade and yes he picked it from the bible...but the extra a was so people didnt call him Malachee...lol..we live in the midwest and people in this region prounounce words as they are spelled...Malachai is now four and I have never seen it anywhere else...also when he was first born my son said we were gonna call him Chai...but now he is Malachai or Mal...chai kinda went by the wayside...top it off he has radiant red hair so he is definitely one of a kind....I have an unusual name and I always hated it but I dont think Malachai is so unusual as to cause him any distress...my name is made up and I can NEVER find anyone else with my name...lol

I love the name Malachi and have wanted to use it first or middle name either one, I really like Jacob Malachi for a boy I'm also considering naming this baby if it's a boy Treyvon Malachi or Malachi Treyvon. If Malachi is the 1st name I would call him Kai, also consider spelling it Malakai
Malachi

When I found out that I was pregnant, I was hoping for a little girl, but instead God blessed me with a baby boy. I decided on the name Malachi almost instantly, but his father hated it ;-(, so I decided 2 b a good girl and compromise. His first name is Lavell ( after his father) and his middle name is Malachi. I plan on calling him Chi. I got Malachi out of the bible, but I must admit that I did think of Malachi from save the last dance as well. Although he was a bad character, I felt that he was so sexy. Lol !

named my son malachi, me being a follower and believer of the highest -God, i had to spell it the way its written in the bible, "the first book", i pronounce it as mal-a-kie though. we both wanted a son with a meaningful strong name so we named him Malachi Elijah(again from the holy book) Malique, even though people call him kie kie or malie. and i thought it was a rare name, obviously not lol, but its a unique meaning all the same and we love it.

From the very moment of my pregnancy, I have been trying to come up with a name for my baby. I had a girls name all picked out, but unfortunately, I am having a boy. So, I examined the name Malachi, and I just knew it was the name for him. My son is now my new love, and he is a blessing upon my life.I pray that Malachi will live up to his name!
How my nephew got the name Malachi.
written by Aniyah, May 09, 2008
My sister is pretty much my polar opposite and have completely different life experiences though we both had the same upbringing. We were pretty much raised up in the church and I loved it, but she always felt church was a bore and always did her own thing. She had some pretty rough patches in her life and we always worried about her and prayed that God would help her settle down and find her way back to Him. She became pregnant and we were now afraid for her and the baby that would soon come into the world. But little did we know, God had answered how prayers through a child because my sister made drastic life changes after the birth of my nephew. And we always say God saved her life through the birth of Malachi and she agrees. Now back to How he got his name! My nephew's name was going to be Khamari Tiriq, a name in which my sister chose months before. However, on the morning after my sister gave birth, they asked her to fill out the birth certificate information while she was still pretty out of it from all the drugs in her system (she had a very difficult time giving birth) she wrote Malachi Tiriq without even thinking about it. Now when she came to and was sober minded she looked at the name on the paper and said, "where did I get that name from?" Then she said, "Oh well, I like it better than Khamari" and kept it. Then I reminded her that Malachi was the name of a great prophet and the last book of the Old Testament!
My Precious Malakai

I have a two year old son that I named Malakai. I had three names picked our before I had him: Malakai, Micah and Kaden. I had to see his precious face before I could make final decision. He looked like a Malakai to me! And has already begun to live up to his name. Malakai=brings non believers to Christ.
The Lords calling

i just got married a little over a year ago and three months after our wedding i found out that we were pregnant, we were not trying to have children yet, we wanted to wait a few years first, but there was a night that i was sleeping and i had a dream, this dream was very clear, the dream said i was pregnant, when it was due and what it was going to be...so i took a test and it came positive, i had the ultrasound and it was one day away from the date the dream gave... the dream said we were going to have a girl, so with everything else i believed that this was a dream from God and that it was going to be a girl, my husband and i already had a name picked out for her and like three names for it in case it came out a boy...so later in the story, my due date came and passed, i was very disappointed because i didn't know what God was saying through the dream then... three days later in the labor room i had this feeling that this baby could come out a boy since it wasn't born on the due date... so just before we started pushing we felt God leading us to Malachi (messanger of God) believing that God has a message that He wants our son to not only send to us but to everyone he sees.... and yes his is a beautiful baby boy and we get a lot of compliments on his name, he is a blessing & a huge surprise to all around us...

What does everyone think about this name on a girl? Would that be completely wrong? I think it sounds pretty & can't see why a girl couldn't be named Malachi?

My my Malachi

As soon as my husband and I found out we were having a baby, we started thinking of names. He was thinking of girl names since he thought the baby was going to be a girl. I knew it was going to be a boy, so I was thinking of boys names. One day, he asked what I thought of Malachi. I loved it. Like a few others, we got asked if we got it from that silly movie. No, we told them it was a book in the bible. My sister thought it was a spooky name and said she was going to call him Mack. So my Malachi's nickname is Mack. It suits him because he's built like a Mack truck, lol.

my little Girl: Malachi Gabrielle
written by tes durham, October 13, 2008
just after i had become a believer in Christ, i was in church, praying. clear as day, but very softly the name "Malachi Gabrielle" popped n2 my head. i thought 2 myself, "what a beautiful name 4 a baby girl!"

i had just gotten saved, and had never cracked open a Bible so i didn't know that Malachi was a male prophet. i just thought Malachi Gabrielle was a beautiful name 4 a girl.

2 months later, i got pregnant, completely unexpectedly! and i KNEW right away that God had given me that name, and that i was carrying a little girl whom i was 2 name Malachi Gabrielle. i found out a few months later that she was indeed a little girl, but i never doubted it.

i wanted 2 b true 2 the Bible and spell her name as it is n the Bible, but now i wish i had spelled it Malakai... but anyway. i think it is one of the most beautiful names ever! and with such a powerful meaning as well: after i discovered i was pregnant, i learned that both Malachi and Gabrielle mean "messenger of God". she had a big call on her life b4 she was even created!

I love the name Malacai/Malakai. I will probably offend many of the people who have already posted in saying this but I wish the name had a different meaning. (I am not christian.) I absolutely love the name and I want to use it...but may not because of the meaning.
