This is the most beautiful name I have ever heard! I think the woman lucky enough to have this name would be someone incredibly beautiful and self sufficient. Someone strong and confident, maybe with crazy curly hair!

I am a fifth generation Margaret and wanted a name that was special and carried on a family tradition, but did not want Margaret so we are going to use this irish form if we have a girl. We think Mairead is a beautiful name, and while we worry about people pronouncing it correctly sometimes, we know our little one will set them straight away!

My name is Mairead. I hated when I was a child that I was called "may-read" it wasn't fun. But now I like that no one has my name really. My grandmother's name was Margret, and I was named after her. Except my mom didn't want me to be called "Peggy". Only to family am I "Maggie", though. And I know what you think when you hear "Mairead" red frizzy hair, freckles. Well, that's my sister, Jean. I have sraight blonde hair, and only a few freckles. Ironic, huh?
