I don't really like my name & lots of people always called me marchella even though there is cleary no "h" in my name. I'm not French either, I'm australian. & i'm stiil in high skool & having a weird name that is quite easy to make fun of isn't ideal.

I used to hate my name growing up since everyone else's was more common. Now I absolutely love it. I am not French, nor Italian, nor Dutch (where it's VERY, VERY big from what I'm told), but American of Irish/German/Danish descent. I'm surprised it doesn't show up in Irish names as that's where it came from for my family. For Nicole, PLEASE don't put an "H" in the name. The name is Mar-sell-a, not March-ella. Most of my friends call me Marce, my childhood knickname was Marcy which I grew out of at the age of 10. For those of you that hate the name, give it time and embrace it. It's become very popular now and why do you want to be like everyone else? I realize that if someone's making fun of my name it's because they're jealous that they don't have as cool a moniker as me. Actually, my middle name, which is relatively normal (albeit Irish), was the name kids used to destroy and change into a boy's name. Marcella rocks! :-)
The Italian name Marcella is pronounced Marchella
written by Marcella, February 07, 2010
My name is Marcella. In my case it is an Italian name (my father is Italian, my mother is English) and therefore should be pronounced Marchella although it is spelled Marcella. I hated my name when I was younger as I was born and grew up in England lots of people would mis-pronounce it Mar-sell-a (the literal spelling) and I was too embarrassed to correct them. Now I have no problem telling people the pronunciation is Mar-chell-a as I like having an Italian name and don't want it Anglicised!. I have met other 'Mar-sellas' but not many 'Marchellas'.
