My first great grandchild - now four days old is named Maya and people are having a problem with it and saying Maya instead of My-uh ! Guess we will get it into everyones heads sooner or later - its a lovely name and fits her so well!

My name is Maya also, and as i grew up it became a more and more popular name, but in my early childhood there was only Maya i was aware of, Maya Angelou, my namesake. I did want to change it also, with it being so unknown, but I'm so glad i didnt and now i wish there were less Maya's in the world.

I am 5 months pregnant and just found out its going to be a girl! With a son already we are very excited!! I love the spelling and the name Maya, being half Arabic and Spainish we knew once we seen the name and the meaning it was the one...
