In Portuguese and Spanish , "Margarida" means "daisy" as in the flower. "Perla' means pearl. Though the name Margaret does mean pearl, the Portuguese adopted it since it sounded like margarida " daisy " to them.

One of my friend sister's name is Margarida in the portuguese way. We call her Maggie, Mags or Maggizzle (like in our group). We ususaly call her Kool. I'm going to tell her right now!
