This is my name, and most people think it's pretty when they learn to pronounce it correctly. Most people misread it as Alice. It's pronounced 'Uh-leese', like the name Elise. It irritates me to no end. If it was pronounced the same as Alice there would be no bloody y in it. I had no idea that it was Spanish, but I did meet a Chilean girl once who said it was her middle name, and it was pronounced the way I pronounce it. I had always thought it was just a variant of Elise, and was english. Most baby name books list it as being a variant of Alice, but I think that's wrong. One thing I like about it is I very rarely meet anyone else called Alyce, spelled the same way. I've met an Elise and an Alyse, and the name spelled any way is quite uncommon.
