Well, my cousin had a baby born on Xmas Eve 07 and has named her little baby girl Esme Eve!

I used to work with a girl with this name, i thought it was different as that was the first Esme i've met! and the name is not easily forgotten either. She pronounced it "Ez-mee" but my mum told me a distant aunty of her's pronounced it "Ez-may"??

I pronounce it in the spanish form (I guess you can say) "Es-mé" The 'e' at the end is not strained, it's a relaxed 'e'. I think it sounds so nice like that.
