I named my daugter Maleah. I believe that it is Hawaiian for beautiful one. She loves it and we love it. It's very pretty and not too common, but is really growing in populatity. When we named her this in 2002, hardly anyone was naming there girls Maleah or other variations of it.

my mom went 2 hawaii and brought home a key chain with MARY = MALIA so it is hawaiian and beautiful try not to change the spelling to much. my daughter loves her name an easy way to name ur kid after g-ma but it's still alittle different.

I agree with the previous posts that this is a Hawaiian name meaning Mary. I heard this name in 1997 while watching a tv show about a Hawaiian model/surfer named Malia Jones. I was pregnant at the time and thought this was a perfect name for my daughter (unique but not difficult; although surprisingly sometimes people pronounce it incorrectly). My daughter absolutely loves her name!!
