My Ariana Malia
written by Vivacious Mother of Three, January 30, 2008
My Ari is now 11 or soon to be three as she is a leap year baby. I came across her name after searching through several baby name books. I found it in the New Age Baby name book only. I came across her middle name in the same book. The maternal grandmothers in my family all had Maria as a middle name. Malia is a variation of Maria in Hawaiian. I absolutely love her name and receive compliments all the time.

I'm the third Ariana in my maternal line, which can be traced back to Ireland. In 7 generations of women only three names are used: Ariana, Katherine, and Elizabeth. My middle name is Miriam, after my paternal grandmother.

But I am so glad we chose Ariana Marie. My girl is so divinely rare like an ever blooming flower of no other kind. Beautiful, no, gorgeous, she is my Ari. She is brilliant, funny, kind and wants to change her name to Ezra. I hope she reads this some day, my utterly pure, beautiful, divine, unique, smart, divine goddess of a 15 yr old girl...

My name is Arian and I love it! When I was born my mother was going to name me either Maggie Ann or Arian Margaret, but it was my grandmother who felt it was more suiting to name me Arian and I am so glad she did. I get so many compliments on how unique and beautiful my name is! I thought I would never say this but one day I hope to name one of my daughters Ariana!
I am another Ariana but unique
written by Ariana Lissett, February 14, 2008
I always wondered where my mom got my name and she told me she got it from a soap opera she used to watch. The name is unique and it is but it is beginning to become quite common. I like it because people say it is a beautiful name and its true. what i don't like is that sometimes people mispronounce my name and call me Adriana or Mariana sometimes but i always correct them. Love my name all my friends call me Ari!
Lovin' it, but very confused

I've noticed for a long time now that the name 'Ariana' is really growing in popularity.
But for a really long time, I've used the nickname 'Ari'. I'm proud of my name and it is still unique, but what I find somewhat annoying is that a lot of people pronounce and spell my name wrong...am I the only one getting this?
I have an Ariana too!
written by Lisarenee, February 18, 2008
When I was pregnant for the 2nd time I was going to name the baby Maria but I was looking in a book of names and saw Ariana and I said that's it. It is becoming more and more popular and people always misspell and mispronouce it too, which is kind of irritating!! My daughter is now 3 and everyone loves her name. Ariana Joan. Middle name after my dec. mother in law. We call her Ana though cause she could never say it and her little sister, Maria couldn't either. Lisa
Holy crap, another Ariana Laura.

Are you kidding me? Hugs all around, o mysterious interweb people. I consistently am told that my name adds such class to my appearance I am frequently mistaken as being in my mid-twenties. (No joke.) As people always have said, "A beautiful name for a beautiful girl." It was really confusing the first time I met another Ariana because we had the same initials and similar-sounding last names.

As far as nicknames go, I've always been called "Nana" because that's what my little cousin called me when he was learning to talk.
everybody calls me special
written by ariana caterina, February 27, 2008
and say i live up to my special name. all my friends would be saying how they wish their name wasn't something boring like katie or mary or sarah but i've always been okay with being ariana. i'm moving soon to a whole new place and I'm trying to think of a really good nickname for ariana and i can't think of any. those closest to my sometimes called me yannah (pronounced yana) but i cant think of anything special and new and fresh. ideas?
Love my name
written by Arianna, March 19, 2008
There's a Marc Anthony song..where he mentions his daughters name "Arianna." I wonder if it has to do with any of the popularity. Honestly, I was the only Arianna for a long time in my area. But funny story, several of my schoolmate's parents used the name to name their subsequent daughters. In my old school, there were about 3-4 Arianna's by the time I graduated (all much younger than me) who could be traced back to me.

Afghani name

Hi. My daughter was born in 1987. My husband's from Afghanistan, so we named my daughter after his country; the original name of his country was Ariana/Aryana. We did this with two purposes in mind: first, to honor the country that he had to leave, since the Russians killed my husband's father and put my husband in jail for not wanting to be a communist, so he had to leave there, even though he missed his home so badly. Second, we named her with a sense of irony, because the place where we eventually moved was the four state center of the KKK, and we would probably have been killed if we'd lived in Germany about sixty years ago; the thing is, the Afghan, Persian, and surrounding countries were the original Aryan countries, and most certainly didn't look like Hitler's ideal--blond hair, blue eyes, etc. (and yes, some people will say that the original Aryans came from somewhere else, blah, blah, blah, but we don't care--we just love the name).
