I have always loved this name. I remember it from reading king Arthur books when I was a child, whenever I would play house or games with my friends I was alwasy Gwen or Gwendolyn, sometimes Gwenita, when my friends got tired of that name. If I ever have a baby girl I will MOST CERTAINLY name her Gwen, at least a variation of it!

When I got old enough to understand my name, I loved it. The summer before 9th grade I was scared that I would be made fun of because my name is so different. I have never met anyone else with the name Gwen. On the first day of school when the teacher was doing roll, she called my name, timidly I called out 'here' she looked up and said, 'young lady, I just want you to know that I absolutly adore your name'. I was a bit surprised. I thanked her and she went on with the name calling. The girl in front of me turned around and introduced herself as Madaline, a name I had never heard before! She complemented me on my name and we became good friends. A week or two later, when I had gotten used to my new school, the #3 school hottie aproached me and asked me out! Of course I said yes, and he can't stop saying the name Gwen! Now, seven years later, we are married with one child named Frannie. A beautiful name!
