About Myself: I'm 19 years old and I'm due with my first baby on August 13th. My baby's father is a year and a half younger than me and will graduate high school this year. I couldn't ask for a better man and I know with he and I for parents our baby will be one of the lucky children who get to have that loving family most people dream of. We are having a boy and We've decided to name Brady Michael and he will have his daddy's last name which is Harding, considering within a year or two that will be mommy's last name too. When I first discovered I was pregnant I was almost immediately diagnosed with a rare disorder called Hyperemesis Gravidarum. The disorder affects less than 2% of pregnant women and is charaterized by vommiting and nausea resulting in greater than 5% of overall body weight lost, dehydration, vommiting more than 4 times a day, and hospitalization due to vommiting. It usually subsides after about 20 weeks, but in rare cases (like mine) it continues until well...I'm not really sure. I'm 25 weeks and still have to be medicated to avoid vommiting. I personally have been hospitalized twice. Once for dehydration and again for severe chest pains that made breathing labored and difficult. Both were related to HG. The people at the National Organization for Rare Disorders say that HG usually occurs in first time mothers and once you've had it chances are it will happen again with future pregnancies. There is no known cause and really no cure. I'm on a medication called Zofran that basically allows me to function normally.
