Re:Stop giving your daughters male names! By Antoinette_Tassaud 2 Years, 6 Months Ago i hate Avery as a boys name.. i would ONLY use it as a girl.. but i am a big fan on unisex names.. or feminine names that can become masculine.. like I'm thinking of alexis but it would be Alex for short..

Re:Stop giving your daughters male names! By Angel Mummy 2 Years, 6 Months Ago For crying out loud grow up would ya???? Who cares???? Kids are going to find any reason to pick on another kid and as for the name thing that is just as childish as the kids being kids... My son is 11 and is named Tyler, you would be surprised how many little girls are named that now and he gets picked on on occassion and seriously it all comes down to how you teach your child to deal with those situations... We live in a world where we are free to make whatever choices we want and the whole world is constantly evolving in so many ways and names for our kids are just one of those ways... I would never sit there and say that no one should call their daughter Tyler because I named my son that and a few ignorant little terdburgaers want to pick on him for it... I have taught him to be proud of his name and who he is and if anyone says anything about his name then who cares he is a smart kid and al;ways has a come back for them that isn't insulting just smarter cos he is better than that... I truely think this thread is just pathetic but I had to put my 2 cents worth in cos I have a big mouth... Well fingers LOL

Re:Stop giving your daughters male names! By TaeJ 2 Years, 6 Months Ago I personally like using more masculine names for girls. My name (Taelour) was chosen because my mother wanted a stong but beautiful name for a girl, so she took a name more commonly known for a boy but spelled it in a way that appears more feminine - and I love it, I've always thought it suited me well. And, it will probably be something that I will continue if I have a daughter (Wrynn Avarie, Allynn Fynn, Zayne Shea).
My brother's name is also Avery, and he's never heard any remarks about it "being a girl's name". I like the name for either sex. Naming your child is a personal choice (obviously), and you shouldn't let other's choices on their childrens names bother you about the choice you made on yours.

Re:Stop giving your daughters male names! By lovesbabynames 2 Years, 6 Months Ago In my opinion Avery is more of a girl becasue in the last few years people have been naming their daughters Avery and it sounds more feminane to me. Naming a boy Sophia is certanatly NOT the same as name a girl Avery. People are going to name their kids what they want(ex. Apple???) and kids are going to make fun of eachother regardless of what their names are, thats just the way kids are. Parent will have to teach their kids how to look past these things. Names won't stop the kids from being who they are. Things change over the years, as Emily G said Ashley. In my life i have only met one male Ashley and can't even count how many female Ashleys. Their are many names that can be completely unisex but some that lean on the other said of the spectrum. YOu can't go by what things were like many years ago, because may things happen making unisex names more feminane or masculine.
