Giving your baby a unique and unusual name?
By Janae 2 Years, 4 Months Ago
We have a baby girl due in 3 months. We have chosen the name Willow Grace. Some of our friends and family have complained - they think we're setting our daughter up to get picked on because it's an unusual name. But I think Willow Grace is a beautiful name!

There's nothing wrong with having an unusual name, right? My name is Janae, and that's a very uncommon name. But I've always liked having a name that is different and unique. I don't want our daughter to have the same name as 10 other girls at her school, ya know?

Anyone else have an uncommon name? What are your thoughts on giving a baby a unique name? Is Willow Grace too strange?

I don't view Willow as being unusual, I think it is REALLY pretty.

That's why I'm not sharing possible baby names with my family

My daughters name is Willow and she is 3 months old. I love her name and so do other people when they ask what it is. Go for it

I don't think there's anything wrong with the name Willow. It's still a bit unusual, but it's starting to become kinda popular. If you were having a boy and wanted to give him an unusual name that would be a whole other story. There's a much higher chance of a boy being picked on for an unusual name than there is for a girl. It's actually kind of a cool thing for a girl to have an unusual name. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

My name is highly common and I absolutely hate it. I'm from a rural area where there was maybe 250-300 kids in the entire county and there were about 10 other girls with the same name as me; one of them in my class. I chose to give my girls more unusual names, Aubriella Braelyn and Kaia Avalon, and no one has ever made fun of them. The only complaints I've heard about them is that some people don't know how to pronounce them when they see them.

i love unusual names for babies..

i am having twins, one is a boy and i don't know about the other and i am calling them

Felix Xavier Aleem
Demitri Alexander Henry/Brooklyn Alexis Vivienne

the boys names are not very common at all, Brooklyn is becoming more popular but i don't personally know one Brooklyn which is why i love it..

Willow Grace is a great name and even if she decides she doesn't like Willow when she is older she can always go by Grace

its a great name
