I really like River but I am the same as you... I love unique names and my husband likes more traditional names. We resently had a little girl and we named her Audrey Brooks, a traditional first name and a more unique middle name. What about taking a name that he likes and making a unique spelling... for example Jamii and then put a name you like as the middle name. Jamii River... very nice. I plan on doing something like this with our next child. He likes the traditional name Katie so maybe we will spell it Kaydee. I dont know just suggestions maybe it will help. Let me know what you decide

The spelling isn't really my thing, more the sound and feel of the name. I like old, calm, strong yet unique names (names that sound like they won't become fads but will last). Does anyone know of any Scottish names that fit into this description?

I like Finley. It screams Scottish heritage and its unique. Definately not overused. Bit i agree with the one lady that said mix em up. Use one of yours with one of his and come to a compromise.

Finley is cute but still not exactly what we're looking for. We are going to use a friend's name for his middle so it would be great if we could get traditional Scottish, unique, strong, not a fad and long lasting all wrapped into one little package of a great name

Whats everyone's opinions of hyphenated names for boys? I know that quite a few girls have these but it's not really heard of for males..
I was thinking River-Quin or Davey-River, Phoenix-Davey, Phoenix-Quin or Davey-Phoenix: any opinions?

River or Phoenix and he likes any of: Alec, Quin, Jamie and Davey

I like River, Alec, and Davey all right. Although I think I like Alex and Davis a little more. Maybe Quinten or Jameson? Have you considered straight up using Scotland as a name, or Scot? Maybe you could twist it and use Scout, even though it's famous as a girl name, but hardly ever used as far as I know.

The other ladies have given you some great suggestions. Check out all the other threads and posts and q & a on this website, too!

Let us know what you choose! Best wishes!
