Name it after who...?
By traceylovesrj 1 Year, 11 Months Ago
My fiancé would like it a lot if I named the baby after him of it's a boy. Richard Robert James Williams. I'm kind of leaning towards naming him (if indeed it is a him) after my grandpa. Frank Henry Harrison III. He passed away a few years ago and he was my idol. With him being dead I'm the last one that could possibly carry out the family name. I'm so conflicted. I've also been wanting to just name him a name other than those two. I really don't know what to do... I want my child to have his/her fathers last name but I want to carry on the family name too. What do you think?

I don't know what to tell you other than in my personal opinion I would give the child it's own name instead of naming it after someone.

why not use a name from each of them? Robert Henry does sound good and strong. Or you can combine the names? like.. James+Harrison=Jamison or Robert+Harrison=Robertson

If you and your fiancé can't agree on whose first name you should use(His or Grandpa) I suggest you give him a totally new FIRST name. The second and third can be one of each of the names. In terms of order, personally, I would go by seniority. But it's up to you really. Or else, pray hard that you would happen to have 2 sons, then you can use both the names. HAHA!!

But if there's a name you really like, but you still want your son to have family names, the only way is really to combine like.. 1 name each. If fiancé insists on using only his full name.... .. I don't know.. but just be sure that he knows that you also have other names and your grandpa's name in mind. I'm sure you both can come to a compromise (:

GOOD LUCK!!!

Are you going to find out the sex before the birth? If so, wait til then to worry much about it. If it's a girl, I guess you have other names in mind, huh? If it's a boy, I would do as the others suggested: his own first name, then two middle names-one from dad and one from great grandpa; the last name being your fiance's last name.

I would give the baby his own first name and then two middle names:
______ Robert Henry.
