It probably was a little rude, but her attitude was so sanctimonious. I mean, it's not like she HAS a kid named Cosmo and I was making fun of her. It is supposedly a friends potential kid. She got bent out of shape because I jokingly suggested Cosmo Naut and Cosmo Politan.
I thought it was funny.

No point in overreacting on either part and even if you thought it was funny, you must have realized she might have been bothered by your comment? I'm one for always speaking your mind and not living by what other people might or might not feel offended by, but I don't think commenting that you don't find a joke funny is being sanctimonious.

It wasn't the saying she didn't think it was funny, it was the "its a serious thing here" at the end that felt sanctimonious.

I may have to mention that english isn't my mother tongue and I may didn't express me that good...

I was quite stressed because my friend is due tomorrow and she didn't find a good name at that time, so I was just a bit galled... I didn't mean to offend someone with that comment!!

It's ok, Z, sorry for being silly. I am not sure about where you come from, but her in the USA, Cosmo is not a really popular name. The only Cosmo is a character on Seinfeld and the man that plays him is a big old racist. The name always makes me think of that guy.
