By Emily D. 3 Months, 4 Weeks Ago You know I absolutely agree with what you are saying! I wanted to name my future son Logan but because its such a "girl" name now I don't want to use it because I don't want people to refer my Logan as a girl! I agree that people need to leave boys names to boys and girl names to girls!

Re:So Frustrated!!! By Granny Nora 3 Months, 4 Weeks Ago Whitney is also a boys name from way back and my grown daughter has
that name. I use to work in a peds. office and the majority of the Taylor's, Riley's, Jayden, etc. are all girls. It is another way of life, like naming boys Bryson, Harrison, Carson, last names....

Re:So Frustrated!!! By doubleA 3 Months, 4 Weeks Ago Aaliyah:
I totally agree, my son is three and his name is Logan and when i quoted him on what he thought of Logan being a girls name on a forum everyone lased back saying " its a girl's name too" but it just sounds silly and what's my son supose to do when he's older and all he meets are girl Logans, i dont want him to fell like a puff. And what about girls names for boys? there's a boy in Logs nersary name Shannon, that is a girls name!!! and what's up with all the wierd names like Hunter for heaven sake, it's just stupid and embarressing, and Kingston - it sounds like an underground station. people please, think of your children, its ok to have unique names but some times its just down right ludicrous, i went to school with a girl names Atlantica, c'mon atleast give her a chance! Amber: Although I do agree with most of what Ali has said, i do like some boys names as girl names e.g. riley. but not because they sound strong or because its different or unique but because they sound sweet and pretty and i can imagine having a girl named Riley. But seriously guys whats up with Hunter? That's just silly! AA XX

Re:So Frustrated!!! By Nonny 3 Months, 4 Weeks Ago 'A Rose By Any Other Name is Still A Rose'!
'Boys Will Be Boys and Girls Will Be Girls' Names like Kerry and Carrie, Barry and Berry, Aaron and Erin, Ray and Rae, Danny and Dani, Marion and Marian, Chris and Kris, Nick and Nikki have been used and accepted for years. Davis, Lincoln, Carter, Richard, Harrison, Clinton, Franklin, James, are last names, yet for years have been commonly used as first names with no problem. Some names that were once predominantly used as masculine given names are now primarily feminine given names, including Ashley, Beverly, Carol, Evelyn, Hilary, Jocelyn, Meredith, Shirley, Sharon, and Vivian. How many of these male names would you use for your son or have used for a girl? Does the name Abby signify a male or a female to you? Did Abbie Hoffman come to mind? We associate a name with a person we know. If I knew a boy named Kim he would as naturally come to mind as would a girl that I know as Kim. We choose certain names for a myriad of reasons. To honor someone or because we like how it looks or sounds. Society is ever expanding and so are the choices we can make for names. I agree that some, not all, of the names celebrities choose for example, are truly without merit. I am surprised at how many people make remarks about names like Poppy, Shiloh, Suri and Willow to name, but a few, and no one mentions the name Phinneaus that Julia Roberts chose for her son as being off the wall. Bluebelle and Poppy are names of flowers as are Rose, Lily, Iris, Daisy, and Violet yet no one finds these names odd. Names like Ivy and Holly are fine but Willow and Rowan are deemed strange. Rory was and is a nickname for Aurora! April, May, June and August are used as names but what about the rest of the months? Who determines that? for a girl. I do not happen to think Hunter is a 'silly' name for a girl. While it's true upon hearing the word 'hunter' most will associate it with men in the sport of hunting, the fact is, there are thousands of women hunters who also enjoy the sport. Frankly, I think women do more actual 'hunting' than men! I am referring to 'bargain hunting'. Aren't we an odd mix? I readily admit liking traditional just as well as unique names.
