French Boys Names Now :-)
By cdv 6 Months Ago
QUOTE:
I go for French-sounding names, as my married surname is "de Villiers" - South African Afrikaans (from the early French Huguenots). I'm Australian.
I've a long way to go so just thinking "girl" at the moment.
I like 'J's' and 'G's' - but not specifically. Our nearly-4 y.o. daughter is Joely Dior - 'JD' for a nickname. (Joely is not from the French 'Jolie' but it sounds it)
Would be interested to see if any suggestions co-incide with some on my list.

So it's Boys turn now but I've only ONE for 1st names, NONE for 2nd as it will be 'Jacques' (hubby is Nicolas Jacques)

p.s. to my posting. I have to think of my child so any difficult French name for English-speakers with the diacritic is out. André would be easy but too common. Any name beginning with a J will be the 'ZH' sound.
I have very few on my list as I want unique and there are unique names it's a matter of finding them. (I never find out the sex, I always want it to be a surprise!)

I wouldnt know how to pronouonce any of these . I know the R is said in a real difficult way but guess u dont have to if u are not French-speaking. Was browsing alphabetcal section on another site and found these that I liked, the look of them. I didn't do too good at French at school!
Antoine--- Alain --- Bertrand--- Christophe--- Etienne--- Francois-- Gaspar --Gilles--- Julien-- Luc--- Lucien---Lucas -- Marc (is nice)
Olivier---Phillipe--Roger--Sebastien -- Serge---Thierry ---Tristan--Zavier.
Don't know if Jacques will fit as a second name but any way just thought I would pass these on.
I'm 3 months pregnant and may like one or two myself

I also like the French language and names, but girls more, there is more variety. As far as the baby/child goes I'd choose an easy one -I like GILLES and know it is pronounced ZHEEL, but may be confusion with JILL...wouldn't go with Jacques anyway (I don't think) SEBASTIEN is also nice and can be pr. the English way. and SEB for short. Popular is XAVIER which I also like and which is rapidly becoming "almost common" now!

good luck in your search !
