Keep the "tradition"?
By kag0717 2 Months, 2 Weeks Ago
My husbands name is Robert Anthony and his dad's name is Robert Morris, his granddaddy's name was Robert Marvin and his great-grandfather's name was Robert (something - not sure of the middle name). So, in my eyes it seems as though it's some kind of "tradition" to name their baby boys "Robert" with a different middle name. Well, he doesn't get along with his dad so he doesn't want to carry it on. We don't know if we're having a boy or girl yet, so this could be a mute point....but should I try to convince him to keep the "robert" name going?

If you like the idea of the tradition and you like the name Robert, I'd say go for it. Maybe you could use it as a middle name.

If your husband really doesn't want to because of some bad memories, then no. I don't think you should push it. But if he's ok and you would like the continue the tradition, I think Robert would be a good middle name... or if you want! Be different! Break the tradition! Change is good.

Good luck!

Why would you try to convince him if he has already stated he'd rather not continue the tradition? There are more names out there other than Robert, perhaps it is time you'll actually use them.
