Those that I've met are great people with big hearts but are no push over. It's a wonderful name and I'm sure your daughter will love it. Plus it's a hard name to make up a nasty rhyme to. Good luck. But it has stacks of origins, one of which is Hebrew, from "Maris" meaning: "from the sea". I don't know, some meanings differ if you're interested in that.
