By poulix 2 Months Ago Hi I'm due in just a few days and having a hard time with names... (I do not know if it is a boy or girl.. surprise surprise!!! ). I have a 2 1/2 year old boy named Nathan Remi. My husband and I always loved the name Remi as much as Nathan and now I wished I wouldn't have used the name Remi as a MN so I could use it as a first name (if we're having a boy). My mother and mother in law both suggested that It would be just fine to name the baby Remi even though It is Nathan's middle name.. What do you think? thank you for your opinion!

Re:is it okay? Please help! can't decide!!!!! By irish.1 2 Months Ago Ahhh don't be upsetting yourself. I've always loved Remi too and ... BOTH spellings ... REMI and REMY are uni-sex!! I have double-checked on another site for you. You could change the spelling or leave it as is. (furthermore it's more fun not to know the sex I've been told)
Go ahead! You call Nathan 'Nate' or his full name anyway! Remy Natalie would even do ... same sound, so what? Your baby, your choice. See what the others here say, they'll agree. Relax and enjoy your baby, girl or boy and I wish you a 'not too difficult time'!!

By Sarah 2 Months Ago O i dont like the idea one bit. i think each child should have his or her own name and not share the same name essentially. My sister used James for her first son and then wanted to use Jacob for her second only to realize they were related names and had the same meaning. Now she wishes James had been Jake. Unfortunately she couldnt just change his first name when he was 3. You however have an option. if you really really love remi for a boy or girl then considering how young Nathan is, and he probably donest know his middle name, why not legally change his middle name and then you can reuse Remi as a first name for the next kid. If you dead set on it that is. Personally i would leave things as they are and find a new name. but the choice is yours.

Re:is it okay? Please help! can't decide!!!!! By CKA 2 Months Ago Go ahead and use Remi for the first name for your next child. How often do we actually know a person's middle name anyway?
My husband's name is Chad Daren (he is the 5th child and his parents did not plan on his younger brother coming along), but when he did, they named him Daren. My mother-in-law's parents names were Darrell and Helen, so she combined them and came up with Daren. Really there are very few people outside our family that even know that my husbands middle name is the same as his brothers first name, and if they do, they think nothing of it. I had the same situation w/our own son who is now 16 months. His name is Tristan Alaric. I love the name Alaric too. I am due to have another baby in September, and it turns out we are having a girl, but if we were having a boy, I would have used Alaric for the first name.... I could have used the excuse that we were just following a family tradition.

By Saesie 2 Months Ago Go ahead and use the name. Celeberties are doing it. George Foreman used the same name for several of his kids and Michael Jackson did too.
You could make Remi a longer name like Remi-Thomas or Remi-Grace. Or if it's a girl name her Rema. Either way the child can still be called Remi. I know someone who would, will, and has used a name over and over. They just liked the full name (first and middle) so it was used twice so far and will be used a third time when their child's born. It's up to you. It's your baby, your choice. Good luck.

Re:is it okay? Please help! can't decide!!!!! By CdeV@oz 2 Months Ago Hi .. and take it easy.
I had Remi/Remy on my list but dar./h didn't like it. I love it. (ever since I saw Dennis Quaid in 'The Big Easy' * she swoons * There's also Remie/Remay/Remaya (girls last two) ... all can be Remi. I'd go with Saesi and use another short one-syllable name, girl or boy. Or, if you don't like that idea just change the spelling. If you don't want to change the spelling, don't. As two have already said: "YOUR baby ... YOUR choice!" Best wishes!
