Opinions about finding out gender? By Paleboy 2 Months, 4 Weeks Ago I was wondering what the prevailing opinions were on whether or not to find out the gender of the baby ahead of time.
I'm inclined to wait until delivery day. Seems to me that there are few truly momentous occasions in life and I don't want the experience of the birth of my first child to be diminished in any way. I was never one of those people who try to figure out what my Christmas presents were before openning them. I like the anticipation. I like the suprise of not knowing what's aroung the next corner. I understand as far as planning goes it'd be beneficial to know the gender. And, being able to refer to the baby by name prior to birth would kind of make the whole situation all the more real. But what else? What are some other considerations we're not thinking of? p.s. My wife is undecided but leaning more towards finding out. Thanks!

Re:Opinions about finding out gender? By HL1 2 Months, 4 Weeks Ago Yes it could be beneficial to know the sex of your child for decorating your nursery or for a baby shower. However you can still decorate your nursery is gender neutral colors, have a baby shower after your baby is born.
For myself I did not want to know the sex of my children when I was pregnant I wanted the surprise. You only get a few good surprises in your life and waiting until the very end until you delivery your child is the ultimate surprise. Hope this helps.

Re:Opinions about finding out gender? By Granny Nora 2 Months, 4 Weeks Ago Both my daughters found out what they were and are having. It makes decorating in pink or blue so much easier. Plus we are fantastic bargin shoppers and if you know a head of time what the sex is you can get great clothes for a couple of dollars out of season. Like right now, it is starting to be the time of year that they put summer clothes on the sale racks. My first daughter managed to get almost 3/4 of her daughters wardrobe for less than half of what she would of paid for it. And my other daughter who is expeciting a girl on Nov. 7, we have been shopping for her for next summer right now. It is fun to find great clothes at bargin prices. And yes we were right with our sizing. I use to work at a children's specialty shop years ago.

Re:Opinions about finding out gender? By Proud_Mummy 2 Months, 4 Weeks Ago I agree with Granny_Nora,
Shopping it sooo much easier & cheaper when you know the sex, when i were pregnant with my daughter i used to shop in summer/xmas sale's for clothes. By the time my daughter arrived her wardobe was full in all different sizes but i saved myself loads of money- which i cant complain about because they grow out of them in 5mins! I wanted to find out the sex so we knew how to do the nursery ect & what colours to buy- because what the point in doing it twice? Plus i dont like suprises, im one of those ppl that has to know there and then what im getting for xmas.. spoil sport i know! I'd like to do it that way again in the future but i know my husband didnt want to find out with my daughter, so i might let him have his wish next time.. thats if i can be patient enough!
