By candi_kiss 4 Months, 4 Weeks Ago another good way is not to name the baby after a friend
you and that friend could get into a big fight and then your child will be stuck with the name for example i have a friend who named her 2nd daughter after her best friend and her best friend went and slept with her husband. they dont talk anymore and now she is wanting to change her daughters name

Re:Your tips for naming a baby By REDROBIN69 4 Months, 2 Weeks Ago Google it. Put the name(s) in the search engine and see what comes up. You may be surprised that your "unique" name is rather common or the name you love is loved by many in the adult film industry.
Remember you are naming a future adult not an eternal child. If giving you child a popular or uncommon name is important to you check out local birth announcements and you can check online for your country's most popular names.

By fairydustonmylashes 4 Months, 2 Weeks Ago Naming your child is so personal. Chris Martin, Gweneth Paltrow's husband, said when asked why he named their daughter Apple, that if it sounds good, just do it and don't worry about what other people think. That is partly good advice, but one has to be sensitive to their child and how others will perceive them in later years and whether or not the name you're picking is just too out of the ordinary or too difficult to spell, etc.
I tend to like uncommon names that are easy to spell like Story, Nova, Willow, Stormy, Lucias, River, Forrest...Names like these have meanings which are obvious as well Naming your child after an actor, poet, writer, singer, etc. is a wonderful idea as long as the name isn't far out, hence the reason we don't meet any other Dweezil's out there. I love the name Hawthorn for a boy after Nathaniel Hawthorne, author of the Scarlet Letter. I am a writer, so it has significance for me as well as does the name Story for a girl. I also love nature names, which is why I named my last child, Willow. Nature names are becoming increasingly popular as well as are character names such as Honor, Faith, etc. Research the meaning of each name if you are concerned with more than just the sound of a name. I named my first son Cameron, which turned out to mean "crooked nose". Oops! Choose a middle name that phonetically flows with the first and last names. Syllables are important, as well as are frequency of certain letters, for instance I named my first daughter Olivia Mariah. The frequency of i's and a's in both names made for a very pleasant transition. If you are into trends, there are plenty of Madisons, Addisons, Averys, Jacobs and Noah's out there. I made the mistake of naming my first two daughters Olivia and Isabelle 8 and 9 years ago. I thought I was being fairly uncommon. I liked the classy, feminine sounds to both names. Little did I realize their rising popularity at the time and they can both now be found on the top ten list year after year. The best advice I can beyond this is to be COMPLETELY sure before you sign the birth certificate. Twice, I changed the name of a child of mine ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL while in labor. I don't regret it either time. Last Edit: 2008/07/20 14:51 By fairydustonmylashes.

Re:Your tips for naming a baby By MODAFISH 4 Months, 2 Weeks Ago The best way I feel for naming your child is to think of yourself. Are you traditional, contemporary, conventional. What does family mean to you a lot or very little? When picking a middle name grandparents names are a good place to start if family is a big part of your life if not then colors are cool as middle names. First names are difficult, a short last name is a companied well with a long first name. Initials can also come into play some people like for their child's initials to spell something. I truly believe that naming a child is as difficult a decision as any you could make.

Re:Your tips for naming a baby By DONE GOODBYE genevra 4 Months Ago For me the most important concern about the naming process, is the spelling. Will the name be one easily spelt accurately. When I see some of these names currently being used, are we using these hard to pronounce names, because societies confused state of mind. We are putting a tag onto our children, representing the state of mind of the community we live in. I am feeling sorry for the new little ones, that will be carrying these uncommon names, and pray they do not have Dyslexia. Who knows what they will have as signatures, other than some organic line drawing, showing frustration. I believe, naming your child is the stamp of your love for this child, and to create such confusion will only create future wrath, ambiquity, and an androgenous society. Why are we doing this to our future children.
Spelling is still important - to create better communication - contentment - harmony in society. It lies in the hands of all us in our decision making choices.
