NEWBORN CRYIN By Mom_of2 4 Months Ago We feel like we can't take the baby crying all the time cause he wants to be held all the time. As i'm writing this he is crying. I the mother can not hold him all the time and nor can my husband. I go back to work tomorrow the 5th and know that he needs to cry sometimes and not be picked up all the time to go to sleep or just to b held. I feel like a bad parent. Help me plzzzzz

Re:NEWBORN CRYIN By DONE GOODBYE genevra 4 Months Ago I bought a Zulu sling, for my son to wear to carry his baby. When he was little, he wanted to be held all the time too, or would cry. I put a loud ticking clock in his room, which helped. Played classical soothing music, really quietly. Is this your first child? You could also try massaging baby, very softly, gently. Sing to her/him. Remember you will have a small baby for such a short time, and do not worry about the dust bunnies. Rather, rock the baby. Relax, they can feel when we get agitated.

By alipper 4 Months Ago Here is a very helpful article for all parents to read. “This information was taken from the free e-book, “The Parent’s Guide to Calming a Crying Baby.” If you’ve just had a newborn baby, then you may less than thrilled to learn that he or she may have colic. Colic is when your baby just won’t stop crying, and can possibly cry for hours at a time.
Calm Your Newborn’s Colic and crying with the Swaddling Technique If your baby is crying a lot, be certain that you take him or her to the doctor before automatically assuming that it’s just colic. There can be any number of things that can cause your baby to cry, so you certainly want to rule out any health-related problems. If it is colic, rest assured that it’s not causing any permanent damage to your child. It may sound like they are in intense pain, but this is basically because they respond with loud crying for any pain they are in. Remember, if they have a blanket stuck on their foot, they will cry like the world is coming to an end. This is just what babies do. AND, remember, IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT! You didn’t do anything wrong to cause this. Here are some tips that work for many parents. One of the best ways to relieve the constant crying of your newborn suffering from colic is by utilizing an innovative technique known as swaddling. This basically involves wrapping your baby up tightly in a blanket; this has been proven to work quite effectively in parts of the world such as Asia and Africa. You may notice that they usually wrap their babies up tightly and may even carry them around. This may take a few minutes for your baby to get used to, so you should expect it to take a little while before your baby adjusts to this. Usually, after a very short period of time your baby will be get accustomed to his or her new situation and hopefully you’ll experience the results of swaddling by continuous quietness, rather than crying. (Al Lipper’s experience includes child psychology, teaching and professional writing. He and his wife Aurora have two boys (both of whom had colic) Last Edit: 2008/08/17 05:36 By .

Re:NEWBORN CRYIN By DONE GOODBYE genevra 4 Months Ago See, there it is, swaddling - just like we talked about in our personal message. I don't know about the duct tape though. I am hoping people do not misread that. I'm sure they mean, just a short piece of duct tape, to secure corners. Not a spiral wrapping of duct tape around child. Oh my god.

Re:NEWBORN CRYIN By My4boys 4 Months Ago My 2nd son was like that but it wasn't colic,My solution was to put him in his bouncy chair and turn it to vibrate. That was the only way I could get anything around the house done.
But if it is colic I would do what Alipper suggested from the book. It could even be the formula, maybe.

Re:NEWBORN CRYIN By CariannDS 4 Months Ago If you are breastfeeding, feed him ever 2-3 hours; formula every 3-4 hours. If he is having a growth spert he may need to eat every hour. Try a carrier, music, TV, vibrating bassinet or bouncy chair. At this age it is OK to pick him up as much as you want. My doctor told me you can not spoil a baby before 6 or 9 months. He is learning right now that you will keep him safe and give him what he needs. Good luck.
