my husband and i were watching that cameron diaz movie called HOLIDAY, and her name in that movie was Amanda. And since she is so adorable and gorgeous, I started thinking...hmmm....I havent heard of an AMANDA in a long time. Does anyone like this name?

It's not a horrible name at all, i suppose it's quite pretty but personaly i prefere names that are more unusual.

It's such an 80s name to me. It's so dated to that decade that I can't see it on a baby now, sorry. Plus, Amanda's a very easy name to tease, as most Amandas I've known could tell you. The only Amanda I've known that liked her name -- and I've known well over 30 well school, camp, and my family -- is my cousin who just graduated high school, but she said she hopes people get over it it and move on already. She loves it, but she goes by Panda instead of her name, because of the "man" part.. she hates it.. I would too. I hate the "man" thing in Samantha as well. Plus, the full name Amanda is sort of a built in tease from what I've personally seen.

You know, I never really thought much about the name. Very average imo. but not a bad name. If the 'man' in Amanda bothers you, Ananda would work. I think that name is alot mor original, but still has a similar sound. Uh-non-duh
