My daughter is being teased at school because of her name. When my daughter was born ten years ago I named her Miley Rae Hannah, which now is very very similar to the actor and character on the popular tv show Hannah Montana. I called her this name for significant family reasons but now she is being teased by kids at school who say she copied the actor Miley Cyrus's name. How should i handel this situation with her? Help! please!

That's hard - my sister Hannah has the similar problem at school! Children are such torturers!!! Tell your daughter that she should be proud of her name because your reasons. This is her name - a part of her. She was Miley Rae Hannah long before the show. Good luck!

My youngest sister is Hannah (she's 8) and she gets teasing about Hannah Montana too, but she loves Hannah Montana, so it doesn't bother her too much. I would tell you're daughter not to worry about it too much. It was her name before Miley Cyrus got popular and it just means that you knew what was cool.

Children are cruel and it wont matter if it is name, hair colour, weight or intelligence children will always find some thing to tease about. My daughters name is paige and she always copes the page of a book comment, she is teased becasues she is thin and has red/blonde hair.

As I work in a school the only thing I can suggest is explain to your children that students tease over everything and to just be proud of who they are. If their self esteem is boosted it will make it slightly easier to deal with kids who have nothing better to do. A lot of it is jealousy and the teaser not being happy with the life they have.

Parenting is hard but being a child is harder because they dont have the tools to deal with situations like this.

ummmm, i'm not sure if this will help but Miley Cyrus is not "Miley Cyrus's" real name its realy Destiny Cyrus, when she was young she smiled alot so they gave her the nn Smiley and as she gut older they shortened her nn to Miley. Tell her to stick up there are worst names.
