How to spell...
By Izzie 2 Months, 3 Weeks Ago

I always wanted to spell my kids name different than others... like...Mikyle for Michael and Kaylea for Kayla.

Hi Izzy, lots of people these days like that. Is there a question you have? Or can we help in some way?

So have you spelt them like that or are going to?
Kaylea and Kayla are two different names.
To spell Kayla differently it would be Kaylah / Kailah
Kaylea could be Kayleigh/ Kaylie / Kaylee / Kailey .... and more!

i think it's a bad idea. It's going to cause confusion throughout their lives, and it really just annoys people. If it's not an actual spelling of a name, then why bother?

"Hi, my name's 'Steve.' No, that's Stee7e, with two E's and a seven."

Give me a break

Well, that depends on the tolerance level of others. And I personally believe that what others think don't matter entirely. She's not giving her child a derrogatory name, but a different one. To save on "confusion" doesn't mean to be like others. My name is spelled totally different - but I do not get frustrated, and others do not get "confused". My name is Tre,C but it is pronounced Tracey. Although it's different, I didn't have problems with it. Yes, I did have to correct people ALL the time, but it's not a big deal.Steve wrote:

I have to spell my surname to people all the time because it's from a country with a language that is totally unrelated to English.(I also have to pronounce it for people) This annoys me to no end. And to do this intentionally to someone, to your own child, is just ridiculous.

It just smacks of middle school girls not happy being Stacy, so she changes to Staci, then Sta-C, then Sta-C!, then she goes through high school and no one really says anything, but then she gets to college and people are a little more mature, and even though they pretend not to mind, behind her back they make fun of her.
