Re:Danish baby names?
By CKA 2 Months, 2 Weeks Ago
My Great-Grandmother moved to America from Denmark in her late teens... Her name was Karan (pronounced Car - en). My grandmother gave that name to her only daughter (my mom)... who decided to go by Karen because she thought her imigrant grandparents simply mis-spelled or mis-pronounced it. She was quite old before she realized that she was the one who was incorrect when she began meeting other Karan's.
So when I had a daughter, I used Caran as her middle name (I used an alternate spelling so that no one would confuse it w/Karen).
I have now met several Caran's, and I think the name is beautiful. It also isn't so whacked out that people wonder what you were smoking when you named your poor child.
My great-grandmother named her children: Henrietta, Dagmar, Dorothy and Tat (son). ~not so attractive. My great-grandfather's name was Christian which I really like.
Hope this helps ~ Sorry for the long story, but a little background is sometimes more fun than a long list...?

I dont mind your long story at all. Its interesting. I assumed when i saw Karan it was Karen. That slight differnce makes the name so much better in my mind. I like it. Its even better spelled Caran.

I like Christian too. Its one of my favs.

Given you Danish background is there anything off our list that you like and think we should use besides christian?

Thank you Grace. I am honored, when moms like my name creations. Those are how they came to me today, and I think you have quite a selection now. I really like the Danish names, and I think you should still go with them. They are so unique, and distinctive.

Absolutely, I would use any of the 5 adore sets.

Let me know what you decide on when the time comes for you. Thanks.

Further:

After reviewing your names list, here is my opinion, please do not be offended.

re:
Emilie Kaia )
Anna Elisabt )
Skyler Lilijah)
Mia Elisbet )
Emile Anne )

...see to me, none of these first names sound Danish enough. I have heard all these names, commonly used, and are not distinctively Danish to me.

I would rather use:

Lilijah Hanne Madsen(1st choice)
Kaia Saffi Madsen (2nd choice)

now for the boys names:

Aren Jacob - does not sound Danish enough
Kyler - not Danish enough
Ryker Kai - is okay - does sound Danish
Magnus Ryker Madsen - Magnus Madsen (to similar)

I would use:

Ryker Magnus Madsen (1st choice)
Kaj Ryker Madsen (2nd choice)

Off your list i like...

Ryker Magnus Madsen
Kai Christain Madsen
Kyler Aren Madsen
Magnus Kyler Madsen
Kyler Jakob Madsen

Emilie Kaia Madsen
Anna Elisabet Madsen
Emilie Anne Madsen

These Danish names r tricky to work with. My favs would be Ryker Magnus Madsen followed by Kyler Aren Madsen and Emilie Anne Madsen followed by Emilie Kaia Madsen.

Good luck finding that perfect name.
