Does the meaning of a name matter anything to you or do you just have to like the sound of the name or both. Oh, and even if you don't really care about the meaning, would you care if the meaning was something bad like.. Claudia... it means 'Lame'. Be honest.

#1 I go for the name, # 2 the meaning. If the name had a terrible meaning, I would not use it.

I picked the name Drake for my baby, because i like its meaning to be dragon. My mother dislikes this name because she couldn't pronounce it.

Although it doesn't sound the best among all my choices, the meaning of Dragon really attracts me. Because I'm Chinese, and the baby dad is Irish. This name is English, with a meaning suggesting a legendary symbol that Chinese people worship. I find it a good balance and mixture between two cultures, so I eventually decide to use it.

However, there are so many beautiful names out there: some might have negative meanings, and some might not even have a meaning. I think as long as the parents love the names, the meanings do not really matter too much.
