Any older moms-to-be out there?
By Annette 1 Month, 2 Weeks Ago
I'm expecting my third son, at this point to be named Rylan, in Feb. I'm going to be 41 next month! My older two will be 13 and 10 when the new one comes. Just wondered if anyone is in a similar situation?

I've found that pregnancy is definetely much more tiresome this time and alot of things have changed in the last 10 years with prenatal care and more elaborate baby "stuff". I look forward to having more help this time from the older kids, even if its just "entertainment" value and my husband is relieved that they will be there to help with sports, etc. as he gets older.

I'm also expecting my third child-- I have an 8 yr old and a 6 yr old. I just turned 38. I'm definitely more tired this time around. Many symptoms seem to be more severe than I remember last time. Except I haven't actually gotten sick. Just really queasy most of the time.

There is definitely more elaborate baby stuff these days. I don't need to buy most of the equipment except for a crib. I'm feeling some pressure from the ob to get a bunch of prenatal testing that I don't really want/need. Oh well.

We declined all prenatal testing (blood work and amnio). Everything looked healthy at our 20 week ultrasound, so we are hopeful that all is well.

I've been sick the whole time just like with my last two, but now they readily prescribe anti-nausea meds so I've been able to cope much better. I've aready gained more weight than I did with the first two and I still have 4 months to go!

We have almost nothing left as far as baby stuff. I want to go simple this time since I think we overdid it with the older ones. Everything is just so elaborate. My oldest's bouncer seat was cloth stretched over a wire frame, no toys, no vibrating, etc. High chairs seem HUGE and playpens have so many extra features that you forget the original purpose.

I'm 40 and expecting my 4th -- the older children are ages 8, 11, and 13. A bit of an age gap to be certain, but I look at it as "convenient babysitting"!

I've had excellent pregnancies and deliveries in the past so have been taken aback that I'm termed "high risk" now. Oh, my! It sounds like I need to be transported via gurney when they label me as such!

I'm only 17 weeks along, but have also opted for non-invasive only testing -- we'll love this baby no matter what. With that said, it was quite nice when the results of the trisomy tests came back saying that I had the same risk odds of having a child with tri chromosomal disorder as someone in her early 20's!. Wow, it's been much too long since I've had any attributes in the "early 20's " ascribed to me!

Hi,I'm 39 and have a 20 and 16 year old, both girls.I am 20 weeks and just got my results from my aminio.Everything looks fine and IT'S a BOY!!!Although the anticipation of the aminio was hard,I'm super happy that I had it!The risk are very slim, although they exist, you could tell on the screen that the needle was no where near the baby.

Obviously, given the ages of my girls,Babies R us has come along way.I got worn out walking through the store.I need everything but I want to keep it as simple as possible.I intend on breastfeeding and hopefully go "natural" I still feel nausea most mornings.I try and just count my blessings..it's hard at times. When the baby moves though,it can bring my spirits up in a flash.I don't want to miss a beat. This is my last pregnancy and I want to remember everyday of it!I wish you happiness!!
