Am I getting enough????!
By iluvandy 2 Years, 9 Months Ago
Hi everyone!! I guess I'm just in need for some reassuring, I am nauseated all day long and it tends to get worse in the evenings. I have threw up a total of 5 times since I have been pregnant, and I am just worried that my baby is not getting what it needs! I went to the doctor the other day and they told me everything was great except I have lost 10 pounds! And I was a little dehydrated. But I have to make myself eat because I never want anything. Everything makes me gag! But I just need some thoughts from you guys hopefully it will help me stop being so concerned. Thank you all!

I'm sorry, I had morning sickness but I never vomitted so I'm not sure how much help I will be. Try focusing on the foods you can stand to eat and for now eat those, once this passes you can focus more on health eating.

It is very important to drink lots of water. I had a dehydration problem before I got pregnant so this was and even bigger issue. What saved me was carbonated flavored water and those little no sugar no calorie flavor packets you can add to water, the ones without artifical sweetener.

My sister-in-law had a similar problem with losing weight in the begining of her pregnancy. Her doctor gave her a list of high calorie foods to eat to help her. One of the highest was pumpkin pie, so my brother was making it two and three times a week for her.

I hope I helped a little.

Good Luck,

Cariann

1st of all congrats! How far along are you?

I was a major puker with all 4 of my kids...nauseated all the time.My 1st babe I only gained 10 pounds. The next 2 I gained 30-40 pounds and the last one I lost 35 pounds(not good).

Cariann had awesome advice. Might I add, small meals....not 3 large meals...try 6 small meals a day. And drink those fluids. Dehydration is nothing to mess with. WATER!!!!

Fruit, veggies, healthy foods that will give you and the babe the nutrients you need.

Good luck!

I am pregnant with baby #4 and lost 10 lbs. at the beginning of each pregnancy but then gained it back plus plenty during the second and third trimesters. With my first baby I did not eat very much at the beginning because I felt so sick and I compared it to having the flu, in which you do not eat when you are nauseous. I was a teacher at the time and one day, about 8 weeks into the pregnancy, I walked into the school cafeteria and they were serving ham & beans for lunch. Believe me, I know how gross that sounds. I would never eat it growing up when my mom would make it, but for whatever reason, it sounded good, so I ate lunch. After I ate was the first time I did not feel sick during that pregnancy. I learned that I had to stay full or at least fed in order to keep the nausea down. I would advise you to eat whatever you can and see if having a full stomach would help.
