By future_milf 2 Years, 8 Months Ago Im pretty sure the reason they say that is because its hard on your back & because of the old wives tale that says if you lay on your back the baby can get his or her cord wrapped around their neck which isn't true. Babys flip flop so much they can do and undo that on their own.
