I think I have heard that if you get pregnant the day you ovulate or right after, it's more likely to be a boy, and that if you try 2 days before you're more likely to get a girl. I don't know if it's true or not. But you might could keep up with when you ovulate with a ovulation kit or by your temperature. Your temperature will stay the same and then go up half a degree or more after you ovulate. Take it first thing in the morning before you get out of bed. I did this, and kept up with it in a pocket calendar. It helped me to see when I got pregnant with our little boy. An ovulation test will show you when it's the day before you ovulate. I don't know if this will for sure get you a boy, but you might try!

I thought it was up to the dads to decide the sex of the baby? Because they are the ones that release the sex chromosone.

If you are sincere about wanting a boy, you could consult a geneticist. Many large hospitals have a genetic consultant (titles vary) on staff. However, these are generally not covered by insurance and can be extremely pricey.

As for the gender, yes, the father's chromosomes dictate this trait.
