Hey Mommy@17, I breastfed my son till he was 15 months old. If you are determined to do it, you can! Breastmilk is the best for your baby for the first year; even the formula makers will tell you that. My son was never sick one time his first year- we only went to the doctor for well visits! The one bit of advice I would give anyone who is determined to breastfeed is this: don't give your baby bottles and don't let anyone give her a bottle(formula)in the hospital, and breastfeed every 2-3 hours. It's hard at first, and it hurts, but it gets much better within a few weeks. Alot of women say they don't make enough milk, but I have found most of the time it's because they supplement with formula right off the bat, and if you're supplementing, you're not going to produce enough milk, and you start drying up. If you're breastfeeding every 2-3 hours, you should produce enough for your baby. Your baby regulates how much you make by getting what she needs, too. The more you nurse, the more you make. Also, I would suggest getting a good pump. You can always pump and put milk in a bottle- that's what I did if we went anywhere because I didn't want to breastfeed in public; but I didn't give him a bottle till he was 4 weeks old, and it worked out good that way- if you give a bottle too soon, the baby can have nipple confusion and have trouble latching on to nurse. Two other advantages of breastfeeding- saving money, and you don't have to get up in the night to fix a bottle Our son slept in the bed with us till he was 7 months old, and I never one time had to get up during the night to feed him We all slept good. There are many other advantages to breastfeeding, too! If you plan to do it, I would see if your hospital has a lactation specialist and talk to her, or find someone who successfully breastfed that can help you. And get a good breastfeeding book- Dr. Sears has a really good one called The Breastfeeding Book. I hope this helps, and I hope breastfeeding works out for you if that's what you choose. Just don't give up!

Sam, it might be easier if you post this question seperatly. That way you can keep track of the responces.

I like Ryan, Logan, Shane, Spencer, Chase, Carson, Carter, Conner, and Parker

Hi im 18 years old and I am expecting my first child in July. Since I got pregnant my whole family has turned against me and I feel so alone. My baby father is around sometimes but he works alot to make sure we can support the baby. I have a job myself and I also attend college as a full time student. I am really stressing right now because I dont want to go through the delivery alone. My family believed that I got pregnant so that I could have some attention but it isnt true. It was a accident. Can anyone help me with some advice on how to get through this? PLZ any advice is better than what I am getting now, which is nothing.
