Why are so many teens having sex?

because the media glorifies sex. And why not, it's great. and a wonderful way to connect with the person you love. The problem is that it isn't projected that way. Most of the time its projected as a way to satisfy sexual appetite. It's seen as something for yourself, not something to share. Tee way you can see it the most is in the porn industry. Everything becomes aout instant gratification. We are no longer seeing the other person involved in the sexual act, only the act itself.

I can tell you first hand why. I am a 18 year old female and I am pregnant with my first child. My pregnancy didnt happen on purpose, it wasnt planned or anything. I was a mistake that I have to deal with for the rest of my life...but my mistakes will make me stronger. The reason so many teenagers are out having sex is partly the parents fault. Im not saying the parents are telling them to go out and have sex but I know for a fact if my mom was around....its a 90% chance I wouldnt be pregnant. Another reason is because temptation is surrounding us. We encounter temptation everywhere and its very hard to resist. So many things that are going on in todays society has a very big influence on the way the younger generations will turn out to be in the future.

You've got that right! The media is making it look good- but it's all lies. They don't tell you about all the STDs going around that can cause you to loose your fertility, or even your life! And condoms don't always work. You're taking a risk, because they don't protect you 100% of the time. If anyone, media included, tells you they do protect you, they're lying to you.

And yes, kburton2007, you are right. It is alot the parents' fault. Parents need to be there for their kids and talk to them openly about sex and waiting till marriage. Parents aren't doing that, and we have got to do that, to get our kids back. Because right now, the media and peer pressure has got them, and they are being lied to. It is up to us to tell them the truth. All of you who see your mistakes, will you try to get through to your babies when they grow up that waiting till marriage is best? Would you want for them what has happened to you? Honestly? Will you please tell your friends the same? Please realize that we can make a change for the future generation. kburton, you say your mistakes make you stronger- and you're right, they do, you learn from them. I am glad you are mature enough to see that. I am sure things will work out for you and that you will be there for your child. You sound like you will be a good mother.

to be quite honest, the role models that most teens have are crap. not to blame them, but teens are like sheep, and if a celebrity does it, then its a cool thing to do. i had sex for the first time at 17, we had been dating since just after my 14th birthday. he waited for me to be ready, and most guys arent willing to do that, most girls arent either. most people arent as lucky as me though, i am 21 now,he's 22 and we are still together, happiy married and expecting #2 on july 3. i was not taught about sex by my parents, they left it to the school system. i will be educating my children on this myself, better me than their peer group. i feel the need to explain to my 3 year old about how magazines and media are corrupt and send out bad messages and they dont have her best interests at heart. we started young, and we did things a little backwards, but its been for the best. my husband was young and immature, so was i but we both stepped up and have made a great life together. he is the best dad ever, and he has no vices to complain about. p.s. media and peer pressure had nothing to do with my decisions, becuase im not a sheep and have a mind of my own. i just wish more girls would make sure that he loves them too and is not just saying it to get in their pants.
