Ok so my baby is 3weeks old and will be a month old on thursday. I started him out on similac advance and now i have moved on to the soy. He was very cranky and crying alot on the regular similac and his lil tummy was real hard it hurt him. I also started giving him Gripe water if anyone has heard of that. It's suppose to help with colic and hiccups. well everything was good with the soy but now he's constipated. His stools are so hard and he is having such a hard time passing them. I dont know what to do. Should i switch again to a different formula?? Did anyone have any issues like me?? Please help I call my doctor at least once a week because i'm a first time mother and i dont know everything so i keep taking him there.

My baby sister had almost the same kind of things happening when she was like 6 weeks old. I was 16 at the time and my mom tried switching formula which helped to an extent but what really worked was watered down apple juice. Only like and ounce or two a day I believe, it was 5 years ago. But once we did that she was fine. Hope this helps!!

It takes time to find the right formula. babies are allerigic to lots of formula thats why theres different kinds. Nestle good start is really good for babies who are hard to find the right formula cus it gets broken down when drunk just like breast milk it helps with gasy tummies and constipation you should try it wic told me they are the best formula cus I had a whole bunch given to me and I gave it to wic cus I never used formula or bottles so I never really had to deal with what you are. so good luck

I agree with Justins1favmom, as long as your baby is not allergic to milk products, try the Nestle Good Start. It has already broken down proteins, DHA and ARA.

10ml of prune juice in 20-30ml of boiled water helped my little boy, or you could just try plain bolied water. Offer this a couple times a day (not to close to feeding time) to help with constipation.

Good luck trying to find a formula that suits, there are so many out there to choose from. My son became fond of one of the most expensive. (lucky us)

When my son was a baby I changed several formula milk but he still remained constipated, my paediatrician suggested using bebegel and it worked wonders. These are tubes containing glycerol applied rectally, for a small baby you need less than half a tube, (they're small). Try to change the formula milk maybe you'll find one that makes your child better but if it's still in vain try asking your chemist about them
