i can see why you are devastated and why the other twin is taking a backseat to this and its perfectly normal. You could put jared to bed early and have some one on one time with the other twin

The baby boy is not a twin. He has twin sister who are older.

Regardless of whether your new babe is deaf or not, he would probably be getting more attention than the girls right now.
All the other poster on here are correct. But PLEASE...throw the word "normal" out of your vocabulary. It is not fair to anyone to say that your girls are normal and your boy isn't. he is different from them.
Sign language for the whole family is imperative. I bet the twins pick it up before you do. Make sure daddy, if he is in the picture, learns it too. You will be a bi-lingual family, one that signs and speaks verbally.
As for making time with the girls, when the babe is sleeping spend time playing with them. When you sit to feed the baby, have the girls come sit next to you and read to them.
Whether your child has a disablilty or not, it is always hard to find equal time for all. Do not expect to be perfect. None of us are.

I think everyone else has already said everything I would. However, (excuse me for being blunt) I think it's incredibly sad that you would consider your own son not 'normal'. You could either make or break this situation. Please don't start stigmatizing him already by thinking he's not 'normal' and something's wrong with him. I guess that's all I really need to say.

My daughter is hearing impaired (as well as other disabilities) as well. All you can really do is teach him sign language. As long as hes not COMPLETLY deaf than it shouldnt take that long for him to learn or understand what you are saying. If he is pretty much 100% hearing lose, point to things then sign to tell him what they are. He will aloso soon start reading your lips.

If I remember, a few months ago I watched this documentary show of this mother having a daughter that was deaf. She couldn't hear for the first 6 months of her life.
Then she went to find a specialist that does surgeries to help her baby hear again.
It was a minor surgery. They just made a little incision behind the ear and put i believe a hearing aid in which attracts magnetisum. Then a month later, they went back to see the doctor. The doctor had this clip that went around her ear and a little round plastic with magnet at the bottom on her head. The little round plastic that went on her head sticks on automatically because the little hearing thing they put behind her ear attracts.
After they did that, the doctor told the mother that he was going to turn the hearing aid on. She did warn the mother that her daughter will be very frighten first because her world was silent for 7 months and all of a sudden she can hear. So the mother said okay, and the doctor went ahead and turned it on. right away the baby started crying because of the noise. Her mother cried too because she couldn't stand the daughter crying. But she was fine afterwards.
Two months after her first treatment, she went back to see the doctor, and the mother and daughter were doing great. They did a lot of mini activities which involved the doctor shaking a toy that makes noise and her responding and turning the right way. The mother was so grateful and thanked the doctor many times. The only con thing about it is that she has to wear the clip for the rest of her life, but its no problem the doctor said she can just hide it under her hair in the future.
Hope this helps, but if you don't want to go through this with your son, sign language is the key. As long as he's healthy and happy =) Best of luck to you and your family!

My mom was deaf for the first two years of her life then after two years she was able to hear on her own without anything done. So just pray to god that this may happen to your son.
