you can start soon as your milk comes in, usually on day 3. usually at that point youll only get 1-2 oz, as they really dont eat much right away.

ok well maybe i am in the majority but i found breast feeding very very difficult, i had really bad sores on my nipples which was agony when feeding. i am pregnant now and even though i know it will probably be the same for me the second time around i will still breast feed. for the sake of a bit of pain in your boobs the benefit to your child will out weigh them. even if you do it for the first few weeks its highly beneficial.

i say try breast feeding and then decide .

Breast feeding didnt hurt as much as I thought. I had to start pumping right when I had my little boy because he didnt know how to latch on. So I had to wait a few weeks. And I had a ton of milk. Got at least 4oz each time I pumped. But once he learned to latch on my nipples were sore at first. Nothing that cant be handled. You soon get used to it and the pain goes away.

Oh, O.k. As long as I can pump early and my husband can help me in the middle of the night! LOL! I am going to try it, I'm scared because my nipples hurt bad now when I get my period, I can imagine after having a baby! I heard to it can help you loose the baby weight faster!

Hey iluvandy!! Hope your well?
I too wanted to breastfeed my daughter but heard loads of horror storys.. sore nipples, baby is always hungry, always wants feeding- plus my husband wanted to help with the feed so i decided against it (I didnt think about pumping until it was too late)
But looking back i do wish i had give it a try, so next time i will. Even if its only for a little while or i decide its not for me at least i can say i have tryed it!
