Potty training
By Mommy2aPrince 2 Years, 6 Months Ago
Could you give me some insight of how old your little ones were when you first started potty training? My son will be 20 months old, and I am sure he is ready (shows signs of not liking when he feels wet/dirty,etc).., although I am hearing he is still too young..?

All mine potty trained themselves by 18 months of age.... Just have a potty somewhere in the house he can get to easy and use when he feels like it and encourage him to use it and when he is ready he will use the big boy toilet and when he does use it make a massive deal out of using it too so he is more likely to continue.... And also when you get a potty for him get him some big boy pants to coincide with the potty and see how he goes.... If he isn't ready then thats cool you have what you need on hand then anyway for when he is

with mine ((i live in the tropics)) i just let them run around naked during the day in the yard, it kinda makes them more aware of when they need to pee i think, they actually see it and so on, so ised to tellthem to go pee on the ants ((great 4 target practice, coz lets faceit, boys need all the target practice they can get)) & all mykids where toilet trained fully by age 2..

best of luck

My daughter was potty trained at the age of 2yrs & 3mths!

I had a potty in the living room from the age of 20-24mths, for her to get used to and fimlar herself with ect. I always knew she wouldnt do anything until she was 100% ready and wanted to but i still always encouraged her to sit on her potty in between nappy changes & bathtimes- hoping one day she would finally have her first wee/poo, however she never did anything until around 2yrs & 2mths.
One that day she just took herself off in between a nappy change and did her first wee, i was so excited & happy i nearly screamed the house down lol.. i think she could tell how happy/proud mummy was so carryed on doing it, sometimes hit & miss!
After that day i started leaving her without nappies on for long periods of times, if she didnt make it or had a accident i didnt make a big deal out of it i just said 'maybe next time' or 'its ok, mummy will clean it up' i never showed disapointment because at the end of the day she is still learning & practice makes perfect!

After her first wee on her potty is took me just little over a week to have her completly dry during the day, i think it might of been a bit quicker if i hadnt of made the mistake or putting nappies back on her when having naps or going on outtings ect- as this confused her and when it came to putting big girl pants back on her she still thought she had a nappy on and would have accidents (but i wasnt to know & we all learn.)

I soon realised what was happening and why so ditched the nappies altogether (apart from bedtime)from that day forward she never looked back & has been dry ever since! So proud of her x
