SPANKING?

Do you think that spanking a child is wrong?

No, as long as it's done out of love and not out of anger. And I would only use it on younger children. Kids in the toddler stage aren't going to respond by giving them "a talk" and sometimes a spanking is a good way to send a message to them.

Yes! I totally believe in spankings. It seems like thats the only way that really works to make your child behave. I agree with the other poster, make sure it's out of love not anger! But the whole talking to ur child does not work if u watch all of these nanny shows on T.V. u can see that the parents do not give spankings and their kids are just awful!

I think all the people above have good points, however, I was spanked as a child and it turned me increasingly bitter and angry at my mother, to the point where I ran away when I was 14. I think that it should be a last resort.

Yes, I believe spanking is wrong. It teaches a child that it is O.K. to hit. It is not O.K. for them to hit people and it is not O.K. for me to hit them. I grew up in any abusive household and I will never teach my children it is O.K. to hit under any circumstances.

children can actually begin to understand and remember things by age 2-3. Depends on how you were brought up on the topic itself. Not coming from abuse i still dont beleive in it. They are never to young to start talking to them for they will understand. You are their main influence and the one you would hope they look up to. You can be firm with out any force of your hand it is how you choose to start it. Giving in to things at a young age will teach them they can do things, you on top you will never feel the need and may feel bad later on
