Parents with older kids and a baby.
By peace_love_elle 2 Years, 5 Months Ago
I'm having a bit of trouble with my 10 year old daughter.
Ever since we brought the new baby home Taytom has been acting out. Which is something she has rarely ever done. She has always been a very well mannered girl but something has changed.
She doesn't listen to a thing that I say, she throws HUGE fits when I tell her no, she's stared to throw things when she doesn't get her way and I have to argue with her about EVERYTHING.
I don't know what to do with her.
Any advice is very much appreciated.

I am only just now having my first but I know why she is doing it she is jelous that the baby gets more attention than her cuz she doesn't understand that the baby is a big kid like she is. I threw massive fits when my mom first brought home my sister cuz I thought that she was ignoring me and didn't want me anymore cuz I was the only girl with two older brothers. Try to spend a little time with just her while dad takes care of baby and see if that helps.

I've been trying to spend more time with her, My husband took care of the baby while I attempted to do a puzzle with Taytom but she wanted nothing to do with me. I have sat her down and talked to her, telling her that I love her just the same as I always have and that having Amelle at home doesn't change anything but she refused to believe me. I am trying so hard to pay as much attention to her as I can but it's so hard.

I know that it's not easy but things will get easier if you just tell her as much as possible that you still love her and that she is still your baby too. Was this baby expected or was it a surprise cuz sometimes it's as simple as the kid not feeling like their opinion was taken into consideration.

She wasn't planned, but she wasn't a suprise either if that makes sense.
When i found out I was pregnant I talked to Taytom about it and told her that she was gonna be a big sister and she was so excited. Even when she came to se Amelle and I at the hospital she was so happy but it all changed when we came home.
