Re:What do you teach your children? (1 viewing) (1) Guest
What do you teach your children? By reads.a.lot 1 Year, 11 Months Ago Some hard, imposing questions. Just discussing, no arguing.
If you don't have children- what would you teach them if you had them? 1. What are the top five morals you attempt to instill in them? 2. What rules/boundaries will you have in your household when your child/children are teenagers? 3. Why are these your top morals and your rules/boundaries? (what source have you got these from, eg. your parents, the bible, the media etc) 4. Top 10 list of occupations that you would NOT like your child/children to have (would you please be able to seperate these into genders?). 5. Top 10 list of occupations that you WOULD like your child/children to have (again- gender defined). 6. Will you teach your children/child religion? If so- what religion? Why? This is the sociologist in me coming out. Feel free to skip questions that are too personal. Please no fighting or arguing- we are all due our opinions. Thanks

* To Love * To be Honest * Everything has a life force, so deserves to be respected * Be environmental friendly * Every action has a reaction 2. What rules/boundaries will you have in your household when your child/children are teenagers? * Be honest with your parents * Do your best in school * If you're going to get piercings or tattoos please tell me first so we can talk about it * Respect the boundaries 3. Why are these your top morals and your rules/boundaries? (what source have you got these from, eg. your parents, the bible, the media etc) * The morals are somewhat influenced by religion and also reflect those given to me by my mother. * The boundaries come from my mother and I'm basically just hoping they work by the time my kids are teens. 4. Top 10 list of occupations that you would NOT like your child/children to have (would you please be able to seperate these into genders?). * I would respect my kids choices in career as long as it made them happy, paid their bills and wasn't illegal. 5. Top 10 list of occupations that you WOULD like your child/children to have (again- gender defined). * same as above 6. Will you teach your children/child religion? If so- what religion? Why? * I wont be formally teaching my kids my religion but they will be actively living it. So, if they want to know why we do things I'll tell them. And I'm Pagan.

Re:What do you teach your children? By Bexie_08 1 Year, 11 Months Ago no kids here, but here is my plan.
1. What are the top five morals you attempt to instill in them? Respect for others, empathy for those less fortunate, selftrust, selfworth, and faith. 2. What rules/boundaries will you have in your household when your child/children are teenagers? A. School comes first, jack up there and you lose every privledge. B. I am here to take care of your needs and a few wants, get a job to cover the other wants. C. I will help you get birthcontrol when you are ready. Just ask. D. You raise your hand to me, and I will knock it and the rest of you down. E. No drugs, anything else is negotiable. 3. Why are these your top morals and your rules/boundaries? (what source have you got these from, eg. your parents, the bible, the media etc) A is because I screwed up in school and regretted it the rest of my life. B is because there are way to may privledged kids who feel the world owes them something. C is because I am not stupid enough to believe that a kid will listen when I say "Don't have sex". D is my mothers rule. E is because I don't know any pothead of my youth that is anything more than a pothead now. 4. Top 10 list of occupations that you would NOT like your child/children to have (would you please be able to seperate these into genders?). Both Boys and girls-Soldier, Cop, Cab Driver, Stripper, Fast Food, Tattooist, Wrestler, Unemployed, Spy, or Collection agent. 5. Top 10 list of occupations that you WOULD like your child/children to have (again- gender defined). Both- Artist, writer/journalist, chef, realtor, architect, teacher, advertising, honest politician, doctor/nurse practitioner, or radio DJ. 6. Will you teach your children/child religion? If so- what religion? Why? I wouldn't fill my children with feelings of shame and fear that they can't please some god that they can not see. I believe in my God, and I believe that if I do things that I believe in my heart are good and right, my God is ok with me. If I do something wrong, if I own up and ask for forgiveness, he forgives me. I don't need a man behind a pulpit telling me I am going to hell because I didn't throw $50 in his collection plate. My kids will know that they are free to explore any religion they choose, and I will support them. That they have faith is what matters.

Re:What do you teach your children? By Emily_G 1 Year, 11 Months Ago I may not be able to answer all, since I am not a parent yet. But I will try
1. What are the top five morals you attempt to instill in them? - to love God - to love others - to be honest, kind, giving, etc. 2. What rules/boundaries will you have in your household when your child/children are teenagers? - dress code - curfew - no parties that aren't supervised by parents we trust - if opposite sex comes over, no going anywhere private 3. Why are these your top morals and your rules/boundaries? (what source have you got these from, eg. your parents, the bible, the media etc) Mostly from the Bible and how I wish I was raised. 4. Top 10 list of occupations that you would NOT like your child/children to have (would you please be able to seperate these into genders?). - stripper/prostitution - drug dealer - bar tender - probably some others just can't think of them 5. Top 10 list of occupations that you WOULD like your child/children to have (again- gender defined). Anything that requires honest, hard work for honest pay. 6. Will you teach your children/child religion? If so- what religion? Why? We will teach them God's Work and how to be a good Christian man/woman...mostly be example.

Re:What do you teach your children? By reads.a.lot 1 Year, 11 Months Ago 1. What are the top five morals you attempt to instill in them?
- Treat others as you would like to be treated - Do not judge others - Realise that money is nothing to your soul - Realise that there are many starving, being killed and oppressed in this world- don't be ignorant of it. We're not so civilised as we believe. - Respect everyone. 2. What rules/boundaries will you have in your household when your child/children are teenagers? - Be honest with me- I'm an open person, trust in me to see you through. - No drugs- if you can afford drugs you can afford to feed some hungry people. - Chores are already instilled in my home. - Schooling is a priority. - Mindless television has to be countered with an equal amount of watching/reading up on current or historical events. 3. Why are these your top morals and your rules/boundaries? (what source have you got these from, eg. your parents, the bible, the media etc) From my education, my mother and the bible. 4. Top 10 list of occupations that you would NOT like your child/children to have (would you please be able to seperate these into genders?). Whore, stripper, scam artist, pirate- anything that degrades them or hirts anyone else. 5. Top 10 list of occupations that you WOULD like your child/children to have (again- gender defined). Humanitarian, Psychologist, Sociologist, Child Advocate- just like Emily said- anything honest work that benefits someone else also, with honest pay. 6. Will you teach your children/child religion? If so- what religion? Why? Yes but I let them see all religion. The bible was written by man so I teach them that alot of things in there is beep. Mostly I go on Jesus quotes and nothing else. Thanks to all of you that have already posted.
