international adoption advice
By Os-Ka 5 Months, 2 Weeks Ago
Is it better to adopt two children from the same country or different countries so that they do not feel like they have to compete with each other and appreciate different cultures? Any advice on stimulating closeness between adopted children?

I honestly don't think they'll acknowledge it either way, and if you bring this up thinking of adopting a kid/kids, then you shouldn't tell them.

Honestly I think people should adopt kids from their own countries instead of bringing them from over seas, 1) There are many kids without a home here in the U.S. who no one pays attention to because they are to busy getting kids from somewhere else. 2) No offense to any one but kids from different countries bring new diseases over here and spreads them, (it has been proven). 3) I really dont think there would be to many gangs or crimes here if people took the time to help the kids here first. I'm not lecturing anyone its just my personal opinion, so if I offended anyone I'm sorry!

I work with 2 women who have adopted children from China. One has adopted one little girl and has an older biological son. They all seem very close knit and like any other family. The other woman has adopted 3 little girls at different times, again they seem to be well adjusted great kids. All of the kids are now grade school age, and doing fine. I think the biggest thing you need to be careful of is attachment disorders and other psychological issues from the kids being raised in orphanages. Make sure to do your research on what you may be getting into, and learn any early signs that there may be problems. Good luck, I'm sure you'll make a great home for any child you bring into your family
