sounds like your son doesn't really undertsand, so I wouldn't bring it up unless you see him acting it out with toys or if he starts asking questions. As parents we tend to dwell more on this kind of thing than the kids do. It's more traumatic for us because we think we damaged them somehow. Odds are he won't even remember and you and hubby may even laugh about it some day when he's grown and having his own kids. However, if you keep bringing it up and dwelling on it then he'll catch on that its a big deal and become far more intrigued than he otherwise would have. So unless he asks or you notice behaviors then just consider it a lesson learned on your part. Next time lock your door and explain to him that if he needs you and the door is locked that all he has to do is knock and you'll be right there. He's not a baby anymore and these are the adjustments parents of older kids have to make, its just that sometimes their growing up sneaks up on us.
