Re:14 year old daughter has non-normal habits By aliciasabrina 5 Months, 1 Week Ago Hey Cara, I try to avoid internet diagnosing and although some of your symptoms are abnnormal, OCD may not be the only possible diagnosis, although from what I read, it is a likely diagnosis. I gather from what you said you appear to be as concerned about this as is your mom. I would suggest a visit to a psychologist,(perhaps you can suggest it without mentioning OCD, but suggest it as exploring all avenues) that would definitely help with diagnostic clarification. Also may I say you are pretty young and you seem quite aware of your actions, which will have a positive impact on any psychotherapy you undertake. Good luck and God Bless
PS. I agree with everyone re: the sleep overs not everyone likes them.My brother hated sleeping away from home til he was about 16.

Re:14 year old daughter has non-normal habits By silversky32 5 Months, 1 Week Ago Cara I hope we didn't frighten you at all, and you may not have OCD.
There are many things that could be going on, and we were all just giving suggestions of possibilities. However, since this is obviously really worrying you then you should go to your mom and say just that. You don't have to use the term OCD if you think that will upset her. Just tell her what's going on and that you'd like to talk to your doctor to try and figure it out. I am impressed with how mature and self aware you are. Your parents must be very proud.

Re:14 year old daughter has non-normal habits By Nonny 5 Months, 1 Week Ago Hi Cara,
I think you already realize that your behavior patterns are abnormal and want to get help. Your anxiety needs to be evaluated and the suggestions everyone has given are right on. I hope you will find relief. Tell your Mom you want to be evalauted, I am sure she will help you. Blessings to you and yours, Nonny Last Edit: 2008/06/26 11:13 By Nonny.

By dready 5 Months, 1 Week Ago I would take the other advice here and seek to see a child physiologist. And never, ever never, ever, let a day go by when you don't tell her that a/ you love her, b/ that she is the most special little person on the planet, and c/ that she is the most worthwhile human being that you have ever known. And never let a day go by where she doesn't know that she is a very special individual. And if you don't have a dinner table; get one; and all use it daily.

Re:14 year old daughter has non-normal habits By lilyA 5 Months, 1 Week Ago Most deffinatly sounds like OCD! Out of the handfull people who have OCD it doesn't get triggered 'til after or during puberty. Go see a psychologists and if he/she thinks Cara has it to an extent check out programs in or around your area for OCD kids/teens/adults.

By 2ndtimearound 5 Months, 1 Week Ago It sounds like she has OCD. I would take her to see a MD and maybe get a referral to see a psychiatrist. He/she may be able to help or prescribe medicine. (Not sure what at age 14.) Let us know how it goes.
