Sick Son (1 viewing) (1) Guest
Sick Son By peterj 4 Months, 2 Weeks Ago hello my name is Peter. My son Kyle has Strep Throat, it is concerning. He is refusing to eat anything but popsicles and he cries when he has to take his meds. He is 3 years old and he is being incredibly irritable toward his brothers. his 3 month old brothers and his twin brother Jay. Anything i could do for him that could help him to be less irritable and maybe help him feel better.

By Cameron's-mummy! 4 Months, 2 Weeks Ago My friends twins just recently both had strep throat, and she said that it was absolutely horrible, at least only one of your children is sick!
As far as I can remember, it's contagious at first, isn't it? Maybe I'm confused, but if it is, then you should probably put him in a room by himself, but don't make him feel like he's isolated. Make sure you still play with him, and keep his favorite toys around him. Maybe he doesn't like the taste of his meds, is there any way that you could get him some of those children's pills that are supposed to taste like candy? That is, unless you already have. Popsicles are good, because they'll help cool his inflamed throat, or, at least, I remember my mother feeding us popsicles when we had sore throats, but I'm not a doctor, so I have no idea if this is the right thing to do! One thing that my friend did with her children, she got little toys for only like fifty cents each from a dollar store, and told her kids that she'd give them one each if they took their medicine without a fuss. Sometimes it was toys from the dollar store, and other times just a cool flower she'd pick in her garden, or a dollar, or anything, and she said that it worked really well. Just some ideas, sorry I don't know more about it! He might also be upset that none of his brothers have Strep Throat when he does, as in he might think he's weak, or something! I'm not sure, sorry, but I hope he gets well soon!

Re:Sick Son By silversky32 4 Months, 2 Weeks Ago it's extremely contagious and can go through the whole family so handwashing etc. is imperative. As far as his discomfort and not eating goes there are a few things you can do. Popsicles are great as well as warm tea with honey, jello, and warm broth. Don't force him to eat anything to solid because swallowing is extremely painful. It should start to get better after a few days of antibiotics. Also replace his toothbrush after about a week of antibiotics. The bacteria can live in it and reinfect him everytime he brushes.Oh and change and wash his pillowcases daily as well as anything he may lay on or that has contact with his face. A humidifier may help when he sleeps so that his throat doesn't dry out so badly.Otherwise just be patient.

Re:Sick Son By peterj 4 Months, 2 Weeks Ago I am thinking that Jay has it also because he is acting the way Kyle did at first. I also think that I might have it due to a slight feaver and a sore throat. My wife and my 3 other sons have taken over the downstairs and we are upstaris. We thought that this would be the best way to make sure that our 3 month olds Killian, Tucker and Jackson didn't get it also. Just to be sure that if Jay doesn't have it he wont get it we have put him in a diffrent room.
