WELL THE REASON I DIDN'T LIKE IT WAS..... FOR ONE THE WEIGHT GAIN AND TWO BECAUSE I NEVER KNEW WHEN I WAS GONNA START OR SPOT I HATED THAT!!!! PLUS IT MADE ME VERY VERY MOODY!!! AFTER THE BIRTH OF MY SECOND SON I HAD THE MIRENA AND I HAD IT TAKEN OUT FOR MOST OF THE SAME REASONS(CEPT WEIGHT GAIN) I'M THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO LIKES TO BE IN CONTROL AND I HATED THAT I NEVER KNEW WHAT MY BODY WAS DOING. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY REGULAR EVERY 30 DAYS AND HATED THE CHANGE!! LOL NOT A BIG DEAL FOR SOME WOMEN BUT FOR ME IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! HOPE THIS HELPS

Thanks momof2boys for answering me. I Actually thought about getting the mirena after I have another baby, what is the difference with that one. Do you get your periods with it? Cus with the depo I only get my period like right before I redo my shot or sometimes right after. Yeah sometimes its nice not to have to worry about getting a period but not having one just doesnt seem right. My periods used to be normal before I got pregnant so I havent really had many since them.

I was on Depo for 6 yrs on and off. One random year while on the shot I gained 70 unexplained lbs and the dr said it could be related. What I do know is that I tried everything to lose the weight and didn't lose the first lb until I got off of it. I have a friend who was on it for 7 yrs in the mid 90's and she now has crippling osteoperosis directly related to the Depo. Not to scare anyone just passing on the info. I just got pregnant in May and I would have been off of Depo for 2 yrs in August. I will never return to Depo, but just my opinion!

i had my final depo shot in december and am 8 wks pregnant now, but i always was a prolific breeder ad as for the weight gain i did gain a few kilos ... i have heard that it can take up 18 mths to conceive after longterm use but im not sure what they consider "long term"

how long did it take for your periods to become normal after being off the shot?

i didnt have a period at all while i was on it, when it finished i bled for 3 mths straight then it stopped i had light short period then found out i was preggers...
