Re:What Time Do Your Children Go To Bed? (1 viewing) (1) Guest

By MissM 1 Month, 3 Weeks Ago Okay, let me elaborate on that...
My son is very active (he is 5). He spends most of the day at school, and then he has tennis practice. By the time he comes home, he is already exhausted. He doesn't have a bed time, but he usually goes to sleep on his own at around 8-9. My daughter is 2 years old. She takes several naps during the day, and she usually goes to sleep for her final nap at around 10. She goes to sleep later than my son because she takes naps during the day and because she has different feeding hours.

Re:What Time Do Your Children Go To Bed? By lemonicegelato 1 Month, 3 Weeks Ago Hi happytohelp,
I'm not a mother, but I am a babysitter. Here is what I suggest to you: Jake (4) : I think Jake should be going to bed between 8-8:30 pm, keep your schedule a bit flexible between these times, and start getting ready at around 7:30-7:45 so you have time to read a few books and get teeth brushed, faces washed, and pjs on Dylan (2) : Dylan's a little younger, so I would keep it a little more open for him, so let's say between 7:30-8:30. Depending on your routine, I don't know how easy your kids go to bed, but let it work and settle the way it will. Tyran (5 months) : Like I said, I would definitely keep it flexible so let's say between 7:30-8:00 pm. Don't just start putting them to bed at these times right off the bat, cold turkey. Take it night by night, and gradually get them ready earlier. Remember to incorporate this into your routine, and be sure to reward them with a story or two. I hope these ideas work for you and your boys. It's also important for you to reward yourself, when all of the dishes are put away, and the chores are all done, treat yourself with a nice bubble bath or a piece of leftover pie, you've done good, kid. Hope this helped, and let us know how everything goes, K? daisies110 Last Edit: 2008/10/10 20:22 By lemonicegelato.
Reason: I got Dylan and Jake mixed up...Why does it matter, anyway??

Re:What Time Do Your Children Go To Bed? By DONE GOODBYE genevra 1 Month, 3 Weeks Ago I disagree with putting young children to bed at 7:00 p.m. When do they have time to play with mommy and daddy. No, I support the napping routine in the afternoon, and then around 8:00p.m. daddy baths them, pj's on, then its night lunch, brush teeth, story time, then classical music on, nightlights on, and close door half way. They love listening to soft playing music while falling asleep. Thats how I did it, raising 3 boys. They all had their own room, and all of them stayed in bed when it was nightime!

By MissM 1 Month, 3 Weeks Ago Yeah, I disagree too.
I don't believe in bed times. When my parents tried to enforce a bed time, I never listened. I shared a room with my sister and we pretended to sleep but then afterwards we would talk all night and be silly. Personally, I believe in keeping your children very active. If they are kept very mentally and physically stimulated, they will become tired on their own. My son goes to his room on his own when he gets tired, and that's usually around 9. Besides, I agree with the person who commented before me... I want to be able to spend time with my son when he comes back from school. How is that possible if he goes to sleep so early? But when you have your own children, Daisies, you'll see... Last Edit: 2008/10/10 21:49 By MissM.
