The scary thing is it is not just an Australian law. The law is the same in almost every state in the united states. Unless there is a legal custody order, neither parent has any more right to the child than the other. My sisters boyfriend took my niece and the police refused to do anything about it. He had her for almost 2 years before the state took her away because of abuse.
