By myloveuntoyou 3 Years Ago It is actually a great idea to get their ears pierced when they are really young, younger than five or six months if possible. In most cases, the child doesn't cry, and if they do, it only lasts a few minutes.
Also, this way you have the contol of cleaning the piercings, and when they fully heal, you will not have to worry unless you know something is up (ear pulling, weird habits when putting on shirts or over the head garments) that may suggest infection. A younger child doesn't know what is going on, and later on in life, they will adore the earrings they have in their ears. Also, though, if the child gets them pierced when older, there is more of a chance that you will have to pay, but then she will "chicken out" as they say. I got my ears pierces at three months, but only because I was a premie, and even at three months old, the doctor had to take apart the piercing gun and hand pierce my ears. Plus, bonus for you, if you get your child's ears pierced at a young age, most pediatrician offices will pierce them for you, instead of you going to say, Piercing Pagoda, and worring about your six week old daughter in the hands of the guy with the two inch gauges in both his ears and the rings in his nose and eyebrows. Well, in any case, it is still your choice, but keep in mind your child's feelings. She will "feel it more" later, since, then she can remember what it felt like. She might even tell you "why did you let me do that!" and rip them out. Just keep your thoughts in place when you make this decision.

Re:Ear Piercing By SunShine08 3 Years Ago I see nothing wrong with piercing babies ears, but you need to be prepared to take care of them until about age 8 or 9 when she can do it herself. I had my ears pierced at 3 and had to have them redone about 6 times because I would take them out and lose the earings, the skin even grew over them one time. So its a personal choice just be prepared.

Re:Ear Piercing By pouse 3 Years Ago I have nothing qrong with ear piercings, I got mine done when I was about 4 months old.
However, there are a few things to be concerned of when getting your child's ears pierced at such an early age. The first being those little guns they use aren't the most sanitary (alcohol doesn't kill everything in the quick swipe they run over it), and they shove a blunt object through the earlobe, which can cause quite a bit of scar tissue. I personally think a stainless steel pre-sterizled needle works better, but thats just me. Second, buy the high quality jewelery. It will help prevent the possible nickel allergy thatcan develop from having your child's ears pierced too early. Not everyone gets a nickel allergy, but some do, I was one of the unlucky ones to get it and now I can't waer anything but stainless steel, titanium, or bioplast. Also, most jewelery you get will be like gold/silver coating over a nickel base, and that coating will flake off, which can potentially cause an infection, yet another reason to go with high quality. There are quite a few sites over the internet that carry either stainless steel or titanium jewelery, both of which have a very low reaction rate, or if you aren't comfortable with that try looking at some bioplast which is also low reaction rate. Anyways, if you have any more questions feel free to ask, and I hope this helped.

Re:Ear Piercing By I love my justin, carter 3 Years Ago ok for me I will not get my babies ears pierced Im not saying that its wrong or right but I will not do it!
For me I think it should be asked for by the child even if she does ask for it at a young age I will wait to make sure she truly does want them! my cousin did it to her baby and they kept getting infected even though she kept them clean poor baby was always in pain! My sister inlaw did it to her daughter at 5 weeks and when she was a little bit older like maybe a year she kept pulling on them and taking it out and she would pull on them so much one ear got really really infected and swollen so they tried to take the earing out so it would heal but it was so swollen and so much puss that the earing was stuck and they couldnt take it out. Also another time when she pulled on it the other ear ripped a little! can you say ouch! Another thing that I think mothers need to think abut before doing it is that you never know if the child is allergic to sertain silver and gold because im very much allergic to sertain golds and silver I can only wear what I call sensitive earings (I dont know the real name of it) and even with that I can only wear it for half the day before my ears start getting irrated!

Re:Ear Piercing By Kenley 3 Years Ago I have nothing against mothers peircing their babys ears at a young age. I have mine dont at 3 months, and same with all my sisters.
And i never had to beg my parents for me to get them done because they were already done. Then when i hit 13 i got mine double pierced and then a belly button ring at 14. So i'm all for it, i plan on peircing my baby girls ears when they are about 2-3 months old. Plus little girls look so adorable with little studs in their ears!

Re:Ear Piercing By ThriceBlessed 3 Years Ago I got my oldest daughter's ears pierced just after she turned four. She was proud as punch to show them off to her little friends at preschool. I put something on her earlobes called Emla Cream an hour before the piercing and she didn't even flinch. She said it didn't hurt one bit. I highly recommend it. You can also put Emla Cream on arms and legs before vaccinations if your child is over three months old. Available at the pharmacy. Great stuff!
